What is SFXMint?
SFXMint is a searchable library of more than 9,800 sound effects for video, game and app projects. You can listen in a browser and download sounds as WAV or MP3, with no signup required for the free daily downloads. The collection includes interface sounds, footsteps, impacts, ambience and other categories, with files offered under CC0 1.0. Sounds are AI-generated or procedurally synthesized, and the library is no longer adding new sounds.
SFXMint Features:
Sound Library: Browse a collection of more than 9,800 effects, including notifications, applause, footsteps, rain, impacts and room tone.
Browser Preview: Play sounds in the browser before downloading them, and see each file’s listenable length on its page.
WAV and MP3: Download individual effects in WAV or MP3 format for use in a project.
Category Browsing: Explore groups such as interface sounds, water, footsteps and sound sets, or narrow a search to a specific action.
Packs and Sets: Use ready-made lists for themes such as platformers, horror games and UI feedback, or download named events together as a ZIP pack.
API and MCP: Access the library through an API or MCP, including from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, without an API key.
SFXMint Benefits:
Faster Sound Selection: Previewing effects and searching by the sound you need can help you find a suitable clip without sorting through unrelated audio.
Lower Licensing Friction: CC0 1.0 use requires no attribution or license fee, including for commercial projects such as games, videos, apps and ads.
Easier File Checks: File-by-file checks of format, length, loudness and peak level help you assess basic audio details before bringing a sound into your project.
Flexible Downloading: Free daily downloads let you try sounds before paying, while a one-time purchase removes the site download limit for 30 days.
Less Manual Fetching: API and MCP access lets supported coding assistants retrieve sounds while you work on a game, rather than requiring each sound to be downloaded by hand.
Use Cases:
Game Sound Design: Add effects such as jumps, coin pickups, hits, footsteps or horror drones to a game prototype or finished release.
Video Editing: Find transitions, applause, impacts or ambience to support a scene in a YouTube video or other edit.
App Interfaces: Choose taps, alerts, menu sounds and UI feedback for an app’s interactive moments.
Ad Production: Source a sound effect for a commercial spot without a separate attribution requirement or license fee.
Assistant-Aided Building: Use the API or MCP to fetch effects through Claude Code, Cursor or Codex while developing a game.
